The Town Silo

The Town Silo is a country town landmark.  Most county towns have one and Canowindra is no exception.  The storage of wheat and other grain crops is vital until it can be transported.  Next to the old silos would often be a railway line for the freight trains to collect their loads straight from the silo.  Sadly the Canowindra railway line is no longer used and the station is in disrepair.

The Town Silo is a country town landmark because it is the tallest structure for miles around. Silos make great canvases and there is now many with the most amazing artworks on them.  The Canowindra Silo, however, did not receive approval for Silo Art.  There is talk of using the Silo's as a screen for projected art - this sounds awesome.  To be a Silo Artist you have to be courageous.  As I am afraid of heights it is not my thing.  I will capture them on my own canvas.

I love the licence that impressionism gives when it comes to landscape and details.  Colours and freedom to break the rules make me adventurous in my painting.  with Canowindra's Silo and rail track prominent in the foreground we  have the Belubula River and Gaskill St taking your eye toward the horizon.   Artistic licence comes with the sun setting where it doesn't and the Nangar mountains being where they aren't.  All put together however, makes for an awesome scene.  I hope you like it.
